The 10 Best Cheap FreeSync Monitors

Not hip to FreeSync technology? It’s the newest piece of gaming technology that you didn’t know you didn’t have—until now! Does your screen look like it’s being ripped in half when you play certain videos or video games? What’s happening is something very simple that is only cured with FreeSync technology.

Your monitor has a set image load rate. If you are playing a game that requires a higher refresh rate (how fast your images load on the screen), it will cause a glitch as your monitor tries to load your game’s image. The more graphics-loaded the input is, the higher the refresh rate you’ll need and thus, a monitor that can handle that load speed.

The technology that makes it all possible is V-Sync (Vertical Synchronization), created by AMD back in 2014 and updated last year. AMD is one of only two companies that provide the technology that makes gaming seamless on-screen. Instead of being limited by a set refresh rate, vertical synchronization enables your monitor to automatically adapt the refresh rate to a range of frequencies so that there’s no more tearing or stuttering.

We chose to focus on FreeSync technology because G-Sync is more expensive and it’s limited to certain manufacturers while FreeSync is compatible with a variety of systems from TVs to PCs. Measured in hertz, the standard refresh rate for most monitors is 60Hz. The best cheap FreeSync monitors will have a range between 48Hz and 75Hz – perfectly capable of handling most game graphics on the market.

This is a list of the 10 best based on how high the frequency range and the quality of the monitor itself. Here’s what we found:

Starting out our list is a TV Monitor that checks all of the boxes for kickass but cheap FreeSync monitors. The 27” Frameless Monitor from Philips Computer Monitors is a winner before you even get to the v-sync technology, beginning with full HD at 1920x1080 IPS (the pixel format or layout).

Colors really pop on this monitor covering practically the entire gamut of the color spectrum. But what put this puppy at the top of the list is the FreeSync technology. At 60Hz and full HD, this monitor can handle the load. Factor in the quality of the monitor itself and the low pricetag, we think you’ll agree that this is one of the best of the best cheap FreeSync monitors.

3. VIOTEK NB27CW 27-Inch LED Curved Monitor with Speakers, Bezel-Less Samsung VA Panel, 75Hz 1080P Full-HD FreeSync VGA HDMI VESA, Updated Version (White)

Another curved FreeSync monitor that we love is the 27” LED Curved Monitor from Viotek. You get a FreeSync monitor with refresh rates at 75Hz – able to handle anything you throw at it. The screen is also HD at 1080 pixels with a 16:9 ratio widescreen layout option. It’s like having a big screen TV for your computer monitor!

Despite its size, this monitor is pretty skinny; easily mounting in tight spaces and it has an HDMI hookup. When it comes to FreeSync capabilities, this monitor is ready to go out of the box. Best of all, you are guaranteed seamless, stutter and tear-free gaming for hours.

4. ViewSonic VX2457-MHD 24 Inch 75Hz 2ms 1080p Gaming Monitor with FreeSync Eye Care HDMI and DP

5. LG 29WK600-W 29" UltraWide 21:9 IPS Monitor with HDR10 and FreeSync (2018)

LG makes great TVs and they also make one of the best FreeSync monitors on the market. We love the 29” Ultra-Wide FreeSync Monitor from LG. As we noted earlier, AMD recently released an update to its groundbreaking v-sync technology. This monitor includes FreeSync 2018.

What’s truly surprising about this one is how affordable it is! Plus it has a refresh rate range between 60Hz and 75Hz. One drawback is that this one is only compatible with HDMI and DisplayPort but if that’s what you are looking for you can’t beat it! 99% color spectrum coverage? That’s real nice!

6. Asus VG245H 24 inchFull HD 1080p 1ms Dual HDMI Eye Care Console Gaming Monitor with FreeSync/Adaptive Sync, Black, 24-inch

When FreeSync technology first came out, Asus was right there ahead of all the others ready to adopt it. Practically all of their products come with FreeSync technology but when it comes to finding the best cheap FreeSync monitor, we had to go with the 24” VG245 HD Gaming Monitor from Asus.

It costs less than $200 yet comes with a dual HDMI Console in full HD at 1080 pixel resolution. Eye Care technology means monitors that eliminate blue light filter that can be damaging over time. This monitor has that as well as sync refresh rates of 75Hz atop an ergonomic, adjustable stand—a fine choice!

7. Acer XFA240 bmjdpr 24" Gaming G-SYNC Compatible Monitor 1920 x 1080, 144hz Refresh Rate, 1ms Response Time with Height, Pivot, Swivel & Tilt

When we saw this refresh rate, we had to do a double take to make sure we had it right. Indeed we did, the 24” Gaming Monitor from Acer has a refresh rate of 144Hz – by far the highest we’ve seen. It also comes in full HD (1920x1080 pixel ratio) and is HDMI and DVI compatible.

It will cost you very little for this high refresh rate. A widescreen TV, the monitor is adjustable so that you can swivel, pivot, or tilt it to the right angle and height for you. This monitor actually comes with panel speakers too, even so for a smaller model, when you add it all up, this is a good bargain.

8. Dell S Series LED-Lit Monitor 32" Black (S3219D), QHD 2560 x 1440, 60Hz, 99% sRGB, 16:9, AMD FreeSync, 2 x 5W Speakers, 2 x HDMI 1.4, DP 1.2, USB 3.0

Next up is the impressive 32” Led-Lit Monitor from Dell. Part of the Dell S Series, this monitor has a very high screen resolution at 2560x1440 with 99% color spectrum coverage. On top of that, it comes with two speakers, dual HDMI hookups along with a USB and DP hookup.

On the downside, it doesn’t have the most powerful FreeSync refresh rate at 60Hz but it’s good enough to handle most popular video game graphics out there today. One other thing that we found unique about this monitor is the emphasis on sound quality. The speakers are MaxxAudio and bigger to add more life to your sound system.

9. AOC Q3279VWFD8 31.5" QHD 2560x1440 Monitor, 10-bit IPS Panel, 4ms, 75Hz, FreeSync, DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI-D/VGA, FlickerFree

Another early adopter of FreeSync technology was AOC. They make an entrance on our list for their 31.5” QHD FreeSync Monitor. This one might be slightly more than the other options, but we still think you get a great deal because of all of the great features.

The monitor itself is of the highest quality. It has the widest screen resolution of all of these monitors at 2560x1440. It is compatible with everything from TV to mobile device. And it has a FreeSync refresh rate range of 75Hz. Add in Flicker-Free Eye Care technology and it’s easy to see why we like this one so much.

10. Acer Nitro VG220Q bmiix 21.5" Full HD (1920 x 1080) Zero Frame IPS Gaming Monitor with AMD Radeon FREESYNC Technology - 1ms VRB | 75Hz Refresh (2 x HDMI Ports & 1 x VGA)

Finally, we come to the cheapest FreeSync Monitor we could find and that is the Nitro VG220Q Gaming Monitor from Acer. It may be light on your bank account, but it still packs a punch. It has two HDMI ports, a 75Hz refresh rate, comes in full HD at 1920x1080 pixel resolution, and comes with two 2-watt speakers!

So why is it so cheap? It’s also the smallest monitor on our 10 best list. It’s only 21.5” big – not nearly the big screen, widescreen monitors like the rest of these. But if you are looking to go as cheap as possible while still getting as many features as you can – this is your best option!
